You Shall Not Murder
By Pastor John

Exodus 20:13
13 You shall not murder.

Life is very precious to the Lord.  Our lives, both physically and spiritually, are so important to the Lord, that Jesus died for us that we may live forever.

We are created by God.
Psalm 139:13-16
13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.

We are created in God's image.  Like our creator, we have an eternal spirit. Plus, we are higher than the animals in intelligence, wisdom, and the ability to know right and wrong.

"You shall not murder."
The Hebrew word means murder rather than kill.  It is speaking of the unjustified, premeditated killing of another. To murder someone is to challenge God's sovereign intention for that person.

Abortion is murder - over 50 million unborn babies have been murdered in the United States.

Suicide is murder  -  About 5,000 per year kill themselves in the United States. Young and old.

"You shall not murder."
People who break this commandment will be judged.  By the laws of the land, and by God.

Genesis 9:6
"Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man."

Unless there is repentance and faith in Jesus Christ for forgiveness, the murderer will go to Hell.
Revelation 21:8
8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-- their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."

Not just murderers, but those with malice in their hearts and on their lips.
Matthew 5:21-22
21 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Ask the Lord to give you a clean and pure heart - His heart
