10 The LORD's anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God. 11 Then David was angry because the LORD's wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah. 12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, "How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?" 13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. 14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.
As David an others were bringing the Ark of the Covenant up from the territory of the Philistines, the oxen stumbled. Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the Ark, and was immediately struck down by God. Angry and afraid, David decided not to risk taking the Ark up to Jerusalem. Instead, he sent the Ark to the home of a Gittite man, Obed-Edom. Obed-Edom would never be the same.
The Lord richly blessed Obed-Edom while the Ark was in his house.
14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he had.
When the Ark was finally taken up to Jerusalem, Obed-Edom went as well.

4 He appointed some of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to make petition, to give thanks, and to praise the LORD, the God of Israel: 5 Asaph was the chief, Zechariah second, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-Edom and Jeiel. They were to play the lyres and harps, Asaph was to sound the cymbals,
As a result of his devotion, Obed-Edom was further blessed with many sons and grandsons.
