1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
The Family of God
26 You are all sons (and daughters) of God through faith in Christ Jesus,
14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs-- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
For us, it should be all about being in the Family of God, and bringing others into the Family.
6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
Parents: You have been given a sacred ministry. To lead your children to salvation is Jesus Christ. It is your primary ministry. Others can help, but No one loves your children more than you. No one has the influence on them that you do.
Be the Example.
Teach them to love the Lord by loving the Lord with all your heart.
Teach them to trust in the Lord by trusting in the Lord.
Teach them to pray by praying much with them and for them.
Teach them to worship by being in church to worship.
It is all about our family being a part of God's family.
The Church Family
Parents have the primary ministry to their children. But the church family must help. We must teach, we must pray, we must love, we must model the life of Christ.
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom His whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
It is all about seeing the Family of God built up.
