10 But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
For many years, people have tried to take Jesus Christ Out of Christmas
It is forbidden for employees to say Merry Christmas at certain stores
It is forbidden for children to sing Christmas carols at school.
It is forbidden to have a nativity scene on public property
o In Illinois, state government workers were forbidden from saying the words "Merry Christmas" while at work
o In Rhode Island, local officials banned Christians from participating in a public project to decorate the lawn of City Hall
o A New Jersey school banned even instrumental versions of traditional Christmas carols
o Arizona school officials ruled it unconstitutional for a student to make any reference to the religious history of Christmas in a class project.
In reality, it is impossible to take Christ out of Christmas.
Christ is not a phrase, or a song, or a nativity scene.
Christ is not a philosophy or an idea.
He is a real person. He is God.
Jesus Christ is still very much in Christmas.
Where is Christ this Christmas?
Here are four places to find Him.
He is not in the manger.
He is not on the Cross.
1. Jesus Christ is at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us.
33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died-- more than that, who was raised to life-- is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
No matter what your situation this Christmas, Jesus Christ is interceding for you.
2. Jesus Christ is anywhere that two or more are gathered in His name.
20 For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
When we are gathered in His Name, He is there. If your family lifts up the name of Christ, He is there.
3. Christ is in the heart of every believer
Christ in you, the hope of glory.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.
Terry Waite was held hostage in Lebanon for five years. His captors took most of his clothes, his shoes, his watch. He was chained hand and foot. There were no Christmas songs, no Christmas tree, no gifts, no church. But Terry Waite said he felt the presence of Christ more than he ever had before in his life.
Christ can be ignored by believers, but He is still there.
He will hear everything you say this Christmas.
He will see everything you do.
He will be there to love you, and protect you, and provide for you, and bless you.
He will be there to listen to you, and talk to you.
4. Christ is knocking on the hearts of unbelievers
20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Perhaps Jesus Christ is knocking on the door of your heart. Why not open up and allow Him in. Repent of your sin, and put your faith in Jesus Christ. Then begin to follow Him.
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
Christ is with us this Christmas
Christ is at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us.
Christ is anywhere that two or more are gathered in His name.
Christ is in the heart of every believer
Christ is knocking on the hearts of unbelievers
