I Am With You Always

Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.""

"I am with you"

"I am with you," not "I will be with you."  This is God Himself, the great "I Am" speaking.  "I am with you."

"I am with you." Not at a distance.  I am not looking down from Heaven.

"I am with you."  I am a "very present help" in time of trouble.  "I am right there with you."

"I am with you," I am not against you.  I have all power and all authority, and I'm on your side.  "I am with you."

"I am with you" physically and spiritually.  In your heart and in your midst.  In the Spirit, "I am with you."

I am with you when you are happy, and with you when you are hurting.

I am with you when you face temptation, to give strength if you will ask for it.

I am with you when you are confused, ready to give you wisdom and guidance.

I am with you to encourage you when you are depressed.

I am with you to give you courage and faith when you are fearful and doubting.

I am with you when you are in danger, to protect you.

I am with you when you are in trouble, to deliver you.

I am with you when you are sick, for I am your healer.

I am with you when you are sorrowful and grief stricken, for I am your comforter.

I am with you when you are weak, for I am your strength.

I am there with you when you sin, to convict you and to discipline you and to bring you to repentance and forgiveness.

I am with you in your thoughts, whether they be good or bad.  You can't hide them from Me, for I am with you.

I am with you when you witness, to give you boldness and power.

I am with you when you face the enemy, to give you the victory. I am with you to help you pull down the strongholds of Satan.

I am with you in the pulpit, and in the pew, and in prison, and in the hospital, and on the job, and in your home, and on the mission field, and wherever else you may be, "I am with you."

"I am with you, to bear you up, to plead your cause; with you in all that you do, in all your sufferings, to bring you through them with comfort and honour. When you go through the fire or water, I am with you."

"I am with you, to help you make disciples of all the nations, to baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, to teach them to observe all that I commanded you."

And, on the day that you die, "I am with you," and you are with me, in paradise.

"I am with you always"

I am with you constantly - always.

I am with you on all days - every day.

I am with you on sabbath days and week days, fair days and foul days, winter days and summer days."

There is no day, no hour of the day, that I am not with you.

"I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Jesus is speaking here to His disciples.  He says to them. "I am with you." But He is also saying. "I am with your successors, all who will follow me.  I am with those who will come 500 years from now.  I am with those who will come 1000 years from now.  I am with those who will come even 2000 years from now.  I am with those who believe in me, who love me, who follow me, who serve me, who proclaim My Gospel and who will make disciples.  I am with all of them, even to the end of the age."

"Amen"

Jesus speaks the amen, saying "Truly,  I am, and will always be, with you; I am the Amen, the faithful Witness.  I give you my solemn word, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

The church speaks the Amen also.  It is John's Amen as he writes this Gospel. "So be it, blessed Lord.  Be with us always."

"I am with you always, even to the end of the age." May we add our Amen to it. May we believe it with all our heart, and cast all our hope upon Him who has promised.
