Hallelujah!

Psalm 146:1-10
1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. 3 Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save. 4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. 5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God, 6 the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them-- the LORD, who remains faithful forever. 7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, 8 the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous. 9 The LORD watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked. 10 The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.

Jesus said the greatest command is:
Mark 12:30
'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'

The command given most in the Bible is: "Praise the Lord."  "Hallelujah" It is given almost 100 times.

Hallel = praise   u = Hebrew way of making a verb a command    Yah = short form of Yahweh.

We are told so many times to praise God because He is worthy of praise. God is pleased by our praise.
We are also commanded to praise God because it is good for us spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Praise focuses us on God. As we look to God, our faith is built up.

If a person is continually feeling sorry for himself, he is not walking in faith.
If a person is always angry and bitter about his/her situation, the heart is not full of faith.

Faith trusts that God is good.  That what He is doing is good.  That He is faithful. Faith trusts that God will answer prayer.

Praise begins to change our negative thoughts to positive thoughts. Praise reminds us of God's power and faithfulness.

Praise pleases God, and sets the stage for His mighty power.

2 Chronicles 20:20-22
20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the LORD your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper." 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: "Praise the LORD, for His mercy endures forever." 22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah (which means Praise); and they were defeated. Philippians 4:4
