Crying Out to the Lord

Matthew 20:30-34
30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!" 31 And the multitude sternly told them to be quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!" 32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?" 33 They said to Him, "Lord, {we want} our eyes to be opened." 34 And moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

These blind men needed to cry out to get attention. Speaking softly would not have worked. Many times in the Bible, people have felt the need to cry out to the Lord. There are desperate times when we need to humble ourselves and cry out to the Lord.

Crying Out
Helps to conquer our pride - it humbles us
Is unconditional surrender
Is a plea for mercy and help
Is recognition of our helplessness

O LORD, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!" 12 So the LORD struck the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled. (NKJ)
