The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are the most important events in all of history.  Our eternal futures rest on the reality of the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Many teach that there is no such thing as resurrection of the dead.  One of my seminary professors actually maintained we could still have Christianity without a risen Christ. That is nonsense. Without a risen Christ, we have nothing.

Without a Risen Christ, Christianity is a fraud.
13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.

All preaching is in vain.
The Bible is a lie
Attending church is a waste of time.

Without a Risen Christ, we are still lost, dead in our sins.
16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

No hope of a relationship with God
No hope of Heaven
Nothing to look forward to but the grave.

Without a Risen Christ, then our loved ones who died in Christ are not in heaven, but are lost.
18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.

Your grandmother who loved Jesus is lost if Christ has not risen.

Without a Risen Christ, we have placed all our hopes on a lie
19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.

20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Here's the proof
The empty grave
Nobody at the time disputed that the grave was empty. To have an empty grave one of three things had to happen.
1. The disciples stole the body.  But no one dies a martyr's death for a hoax.
2. The authorities took the body.  If so, they would have produced the body. "See, He is dead."
3. God resurrected Jesus Christ.

The witnesses
1 Corinthians 15:3-8
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

More than 500 witnesses would win the day in any court of law.

The best proof

The Risen Christ Himself
Our fellowship with Him everyday is proof that our Savior is alive and dwelling in our hearts

"He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart."

Christ Is Risen Indeed
By Pastor John

1 Corinthians 15:12-20
12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
