He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.
My twin sister and I inherited the crossword puzzle gene from our father. I can still picture my dad stretched out in his recliner working on the puzzles … with an ink pen. My sister still solves her puzzles with an ink pen. I, on the other hand, use a pencil. It puzzles me that they use an ink pen to fill in the answers when there could be several choices for each clue. How can they be sure they picked the right one?
Crossword puzzle clues are not the only questions that have more than one answer. Many of the decisions we make each day are "multiple choice." How can I be sure I am making the right decision? The prophet Isaiah gives us a clue. He says the Lord is our sure foundation and the key to salvation, wisdom and knowledge. When we are perplexed by a decision, we can call upon our rich store of wisdom and knowledge that the Lord provides. If we fear Him, He will direct us. What a comfort to know that I can work the crossword puzzles of life with an ink pen!
Dear Lord, Thank you for Your sure foundation. Help me to take advantage of Your rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge.
